Jet2 Holidays & Hotel Review: Hotel Vincci Tenerife Golf, San Blas, Tenerife - March 2018

Review: Hotel Vincci Tenerife Golf, San Blas, Tenerife - March 2018.

I stayed at the Hotel Vincci Golf Tenerife in March 2018. Two of us stayed there as part of a Jet2 Holidays package holiday in March 2018. The package cost £1,739 for two people, and included return flights from Leeds Bradford Airport to Tenerife South Airport, airport transfers on Tenerife, 23 kg of hold luggage per person, 10 kg of hand luggage per person, 7 nights accommodation on an all-inclusive basis, which included breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, bar snacks at various times during the day, and unlimited drinks from the bar from 11:00 until 23:00.

Our bedroom was a superior room with a sea view, we had only paid for a basic room but were upgraded upon arrival at no cost, which was a very pleasant surprise. The room was large and airy, with a huge bed and a good sized balcony. It really was an excellent room to stop in.

In terms of what drinks were included in our package, these were soft drinks, hot drinks, beer, wine and local spirits. Some of the local spirits weren’t great and by the end of the week the selection felt a bit limited.

The food at the hotel was very good most of the times, sometimes it was excellent, but on a couple of  occasions it felt a bit bland and repetitive. The hotel staff were superb, very polite and extremely friendly and helpful.

The hotel itself seems partially refurbished, the lobby area is very bright and nicely furnished with a range of chairs and sofas. The bar is very small, and it didn’t take many people wanting to be served for a queue to develop. I can imagine that in the peak Summer season that this may be problematic. The restaurant was large, but the tables were very close together (uncomfortably) and the restaurant chairs were a little rickety.

The hotel has very good wi-fi, but it costs 2 Euro per day for 2 devices. I objected to paying for wi-fi on an all-inclusive holiday, but relented after 2 days, and didn’t regret it.

The sunbathing areas were limited in size, some sun beds were right in the splash zone of the swimming pool. In March it was very easy to find an empty sun bed, I can imagine that is not the case during the peak Summer season. There was an upper sunbathing deck away from the pool, which had large double bed type sunbeds, these were quite novel.

The swimming pool was not heated and was a constant 20 degrees centigrade. Let me tell you, that it felt freezing and was quite painful to get in at times, especially when the wind was fierce, (which it often was). The pool was not very large, and again in the peak season, 15 people would make it look overly crowded. We were lucky (or mad) as most of the time in chilly March, we were the only ones in there. The pool has steps into it, which is good from an accessibility perspective. The wooden decking around the pool was not very well maintained and proved to be a trip-hazard in various places. In my opinion, I would say that the decking needs completely replacing.

The hotel has a small gym downstairs beneath the swimming pool, it had free weights and a couple of machines. The spa was next to the gym, and cost 10 Euro per person per hour. To be honest, I didn't feel that it was worth this. It was quite a basic spa, certainly not luxurious, and one of the pool air jets didn't work. The water jets were extremely powerful, and quite painful, which is fine if you're into that sort of thing! We had a laugh in there, but I wouldn't bother using it again.

The area around the hotel is mainly residential and some other hotels, but the hotel is only a 10 minute ride from Tenerife South airport, which is a bonus.

I probably wouldn't stay here again, opting next time for something on a larger scale wit a bit more luxury, but if you want quiet all-inclusive with sunshine, then this place can deliver. Do shop around though, as tour operator prices varied considerably.
